11 Plus Entrance Exam Preparation

The 11 Plus exam for state grammar schools will, depending on the area you live in, consist of papers in any of up to four different disciplines: Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English and Maths.

Although the English and Maths tests tend to follow the National Curriculum, the verbal and non-verbal reasoning tests are not school-based subjects and will not be taught as part of the curriculum in state schools. Therefore your child is likely to need additional support and practice to familiarise themselves with verbal and non-verbal reasoning exam question types.

Does  your child need a quiet place to study away from all the distractions at home? This may be your perfect solution. The homework club/ drop in is an opportunity for your child to work in a quiet, distraction free zone, with access to ICT resources as well as high speed internet access in a calm, relaxed atmosphere.  There is also access to revision guides and powerpoint presentations.

Group Sessions

The structure of these sessions allows pupils to consolidate learning which has taken place and allows them to progress at their own pace. Pupils are grouped with other pupils facilitated by a qualified tutor. Each pupil will work on their personalised programme allowing them to flourish in a nurtured environment. This programme has a proven track record and is an excellent confidence booster for pupils.

1 to 1 Tutoring

We provide tuition to students from age 7 up (younger students may be catered for in specific circumstances). Tuition sessions are 60 minutes long - using our bespoke tuition methods, we have found this length of time to be an optimum duration for students. Within this time students work on a number of activities, meaning that they can cover a range of subject areas and utilise different methods of learning. Feedback is given to the students to guide them in the right direction.  It is crucial that success is achieved and recognised even when a student is challenged as this helps develop confidence and self-esteem.
On your first visit, your child will be given an educational assessment. From this assessment we can then target specific areas of weakness and create an individual learning programme for your child.
